At The Sticky Sock Shop, we’re lucky to partner with incredible studio owners who put their whole heart into their communities—owners who inspire us just as much as we hope to inspire them. One of those longtime partners is Lumos Yoga & Barre, led by Jessica Benhaim in Philadelphia, PA.
Since opening in 2016, Lumos has grown from a single neighborhood studio into three thriving locations, offering yoga, barre, Pilates, HIIT, and yoga sculpt. Jessica and her team have built a loyal community through thoughtful programming and a truly supportive studio culture.
And since 2019, Lumos has trusted us with their custom grip socks—products that have become a staple in their studios and a proud part of their growth story.

From Milestone Gifts to Must-Have Retail
When Jessica first reached out, she wanted a unique way to celebrate client milestones.
“We wanted to be able to gift clients a little something to acknowledge their achievement when they hit so many barre classes,” she shared.
What started as milestone swag soon became a retail essential. During the pandemic, Lumos leaned on their branded socks when other supply chains stalled. “We had all these Lumos grip socks, so we put them out for retail—and people loved them. The design is simple, and the quality is really good.”
Quality That Lasts
Early on, Lumos tested socks with smaller grips, but after trying them out, Jessica saw the wear and tear.
“I’m really glad we were able to order a sample first,” she recalled. “The Sticky Sock Shop advised us that larger grips would perform better—and they were right. Worn and washed and everything, they just last significantly better.”
That durability has been especially important for their instructors, who practically live in grip socks.
A Studio Built on Support
What stands out most about Lumos isn’t just their variety of classes—it’s the way Jessica supports her team. From auditioning every instructor personally to ensuring her staff has desk support for check-in, setup, and cleanup, she’s created a studio where instructors can focus on teaching and connecting with clients.
That supportive culture extends to their community, too. Lumos has built a reputation as a true neighborhood studio, where clients feel known, valued, and celebrated (sometimes with a pair of grip socks in hand).
Advice for Other Studio Owners
Jessica has grown Lumos into three studios while keeping her hands-on leadership style intact. Her biggest advice for others considering expansion?
Build a strong foundation first. Make sure your first studio runs smoothly and independently.
Stay hands-on. Your culture and client experience should feel consistent no matter how many locations you open.
Don’t be afraid of bulk orders. “If you’re confident enough in your brand that you’re already thinking about doing a branded grip sock, then you know you’re going to use them,” Jessica said. Socks can be retail, milestone gifts, event swag, or giveaways—and your clients will always want another pair.
